Providing Protection: Towards fair and effective asylum procedures

Based on research into asylum procedures in over ten countries, this report suggests ways in which the UK determination system can be improved. It identifies the principles which should underlie a fair system, and the decision making procedures which would make it more effective. It provides a starting point for a constructive debate on reform of the law and practice in this important area.
