International developments
Legal aid of some kind has been developed in almost every jurisdiction. Increasingly, there are links between legal aid administrators around the world which encourage the rapid spread of policies.
JUSTICE is at the heart of international developments. We are involved with the International Legal Aid Group(ILAG), participate in its conferences and co-produce its bimonthly newsletter. We have been involved in legal aid schemes throughout Europe, particularly in central and Eastern Europe. We have – with the Universities of Maastricht and West of England as well as the Open Society Justice Initiative – undertaken research on legal aid in Europe. JUSTICE has also participated in discussions on the future of legal aid in a wide range of other jurisdictions, from Australia to Canada.
