Friday 13 July 2012, 6 - 8pm
The Signet Library, Parliament Square, Edinburgh EH1 1RF
Speakers
- The Rt Honourable Lord Hope of Craighead, KT - Deputy President of the Supreme Court and former Lord President of the Court of Session
- Baroness Helena Kennedy, Chair of JUSTICE Council and JUSTICE Scotland Council during its inaugural year
- Roger Smith OBE, Director of JUSTICE
- Professor Tony Kelly, newly elected Chair of the JUSTICE Scottish Executive Committee
The speakers will discuss the work of JUSTICE Scotland – past, present and future.
The event will be chaired by Maggie Scott QC, founding member of JUSTICE Scotland
Since its intervention in Cadder v HM Advocate [2010] UKSC 43, JUSTICE has been increasingly involved in improving Scottish law and practice, particularly in the criminal field. For the past 18 months we have been assisted by the JUSTICE Advisory Group Scotland. JUSTICE is now formalising its presence in Scotland by establishing our first branch in the devolved jurisdictions. This will enable us to focus our attention on the issues that matter in Scotland.
Booking your place
Places are limited, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We expect demand to be high and so if you wish to attend, an early response is advised. We very much hope that you will be able to join us in welcoming in this new chapter for JUSTICE in Scotland.
