Roger
Smith OBE is
a solicitor and has been director of JUSTICE since November 2001.
He has been director of legal education and training at the Law
Society; director of the Legal Action Group; solicitor to the Child
Poverty Action Group and director of West Hampstead Community Law
Centre. He is an honorary professor at the University of Kent and
a visiting professor at London South Bank University.

Human
Rights Policy Director
Eric
Metcalfe is
director of human rights policy. Educated in New Zealand, Canada and
the UK, he completed his doctorate in law at the University of Oxford
and was called to the Bar in 1999. Following pupillage at 39 Essex
Street, he was a lawyer in the immigration and judicial review team
of the Treasury Solicitors Department before joining JUSTICE in January
2003.

Criminal
Justice Policy Director
Sally
Ireland is
director of criminal justice policy. Before joining JUSTICE, she
practised at the (then) Chambers of Peter Rook QC, 18 Red Lion Court.
Sally was made Door Tenant at the chambers in October 2009. She
holds an LLM in Human Rights Law from the London School of Economics
and Political Science. In addition to her role at JUSTICE she is
the current Chair of the Standing Committee for Youth Justice (www.scyj.org.uk)
and a board member of the Criminal Justice Alliance (www.criminaljusticealliance.org).

Legal Officer (EU: Justice and Home Affairs)
Jodie
Blackstock is
senior legal officer (EU: Justice and Home Affairs) and a barrister.
Before joining JUSTICE in January 2009, Jodie practiced from 1 Crown
Office Row Chambers. She is also an attorney-at-law in Trinidad and
Tobago, and regularly assists on constitutional and public law matters
as a door tenant at Freedom House Chambers. She sits on the executive
committee of Amicus (assisting lawyers for justice on death row) with
responsibility for casework and is the criminal justice/employed member
of the European Committee of the Bar.

Legal
Officer (Human Rights)
Qudsi Rasheed
is legal officer (Human Rights). He joined JUSTICE in September
2009 to work on a year long project focusing on issues surrounding
the Human Rights Act and any proposed bill of rights. He also assists
on JUSTICEs human rights activities. Before joining JUSTICE,
Qudsi read law, specialising in human rights and international law
in his Masters degree. He is a visiting tutor at Kings
College London, where presently he teaches media law.

of Finance and Administration
Liz
Pepler is
director of finance and administration and joined JUSTICE in June
2005. Liz has managed the finance and administration for a number
of voluntary organisations and holds an MSC in Charity Accounting
and Financial Management. |

Director
of Promotion and Production
Sam
Watson is
director of promotion and production, working Tuesdays, Wednesdays
and Thursdays. He joined JUSTICE in 2003 having been Marketing Manager
at Legal Action Group for five years. Prior to that he worked at
Doughty Street Chambers, Liberty and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

and Administrative Assistant
Hayley Smith is research and
administrative
assistant to the director. Before joining JUSTICE in January
2009, Hayley completed an LLM in human rights and international
law at University College London.
